The event features interactive lighting installations, which includes a 40 ft. in diameter, inflatable igloo structure.
The Rochester Downtown Alliance, in partnership with Destination Medical Center Economic Development Agency (DMC EDA) and with support from Northern Sun Productions, will seek to test approximately seven concepts outlined in the Heart of the City plan. “Airglow is a wonderful family-friendly activity and a terrific way to test concepts from the Heart of the City design plan,” says Patrick Seeb, DMC EDA Director of Economic Development & Placemaking.
These program concepts include:
Multi-day event (8 days total)
Art installation(s) as attractions
Cold weather event
Evening activity
Weekend programming
Ticketed event All ages – including kids and families
Rochester Downtown Alliance Executive Director, Jenna Bowman, states, “This brand-new event is something completely different. It allows the community to explore and experience the downtown in a unique way. It also focuses on all ages programming, which is so vital for a vibrant downtown.”
Silent Disco at Airglow
On November 10 and 11, four ticketed silent disco events will take place. Tickets range from $15-30 and can be purchased here. A silent disco event is where attendees dance to music via wireless headphones. Rather than using a speaker system, music is broadcasted via a radio transmitter to wireless headphones worn by the participants.
